Amos held the academic world in high regard and was actively involved in the operations of Åbo Akademi University. He was a member of the board of the Åbo Akademi University Foundation from 1922 to 1958 and served as its chairman from 1948 to 1958. He was also a member of the executive committee of the School of Business and Economics, which was founded in 1927. As a significant benefactor, he funded professorships, property renovations and construction projects, including the laboratory building for the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (now Geohouse) after the Second World War. In 1948, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Faculty of Philosophy and subsequently preferred the title of Doctor to the Finnish honorary title of commercial counsellor.
