Amos remained unmarried but had a rich social life. Actresses from the theatre world in particular came to play an important role in his life. It was mainly his closest friends who were invited to Söderlångvik during the summers, the most significant being the Swedish actress Mona Mårtenson, whom he had come to know in the 1930s. The Mona Trail for hiking at Söderlångvik is named in her memory. Another close friend was the Finnish opera singer Sylvelin Långholm, who lived with Amos during his final years and for whom the little house ‘Grindstugan’ was built after his passing.
