Apple

Söderlångvik Manor is one of the largest apple producers in Finland, with
around 40,000 trees. Most of them are located in Tolfsnäs on northern Kimitoön,
while the rest frame the surroundings of the manor. The apple orchards originated
from Amos Anderson’s vision when he purchased the estate in 1927 and turned it into
his summer residence.

Today, apples are a central part of his legacy and continue to shape the living
manor environment on Kimitoön. After the war, Anderson chose to plant fruit trees to
preserve the estate’s land, as farmland could not be taken over by the state, and the
apple trees thus became a lasting feature of the landscape. Today, the harvest is refined
into products such as apple juice and apple jam, reflecting the manor’s
long tradition of careful cultivation and craftsmanship.
