Public information event on planned forestry work in Dalsbruk

16.1.2026

Amos Anderson Fund will carry out forestry operations based on continuous cover forestry in the vicinity of the nature trails in Dalsbruk. Continuous cover forestry is a gentle method in which the forest remains multi layered. Some older and weaker trees are carefully removed to create space for younger trees to grow.

To avoid damage to the soil, harvesting and timber transport in Dalsbruk will be carried out when the ground is frozen or dry. In 2016, the Municipality of Kimitoön and Amos Anderson Fund entered into an agreement that enables the existence of nature trails on former Konstsamfundet land while also allowing forestry north of the centre of Dalsbruk.

Even while forestry work is ongoing, it will remain possible to walk to the Senatsberget observation tower. During the work, short sections of the trails may be temporarily rerouted, and some routes may be closed. When practical work is being carried out, it is extremely important for safety reasons that the public pays close attention to signage and does not move in the vicinity of forestry machinery. Söderlångvik Manor and the Municipality of Kimitoön will provide information on the timing of the forestry operations via their social media channels.

The forestry operations will be conducted over a short period of time and, once completed, will in no way change the public’s opportunities for recreation. Following the work, the trails will retain the same alignments as before the operations.

The forestry operations will be carried out gently and are intended to gradually initiate the forest regeneration process. Along the nature trails in Dalsbruk there are tree stands of varying ages that have developed through human activity. Biological diversity is taken into account in all forestry operations, and Söderlångvik Manor welcomes information about particularly important areas. Through cooperation and mutual understanding, all the values of the forest can be preserved and taken into consideration.

On 19 January 2026 at 12:00, Amos Anderson Fund will arrange an opportunity for the public to become familiar with the forestry plans in Dalsbruk. We will gather in the parking area near Spökbacken, with the approximate address Hertsbölevägen 150.
