What a radiant Blossom Day!

30.5.2024

Bright sunshine and many happy faces were everywhere in the park at Söderlångvik Manor on May 25th 2024, when we welcomed summer by celebrating Blossom Day, like every year on the last Saturday of May. We would like to send a big and warm thank you to all partners and participants in the programme, and of course to all visitors!

Part of the Manor staff moments before the event opening, ready to welcome what would be a total of 1120 visitors. From left Kim Ginman, Andreas Sandell, Timmy Dahlqvist, Ida Sandell, Jakob Eriksson, Pia Holm, Anne Björkman, Kaj Eriksson, Hanna Vuorio-Wilson, Annika Jansson, Petra Barre-Cygnel, Ragni Gustafsson, Harriet Isaksson-Forsman, Alina Ekholm, Jessica Sandell and Elli Forsman.
Flowers were the theme of the day and there was plenty on offer at the market.
One of the big events of the day was the launch of a unique apple product, carbonated apple juice, called PomPom. Everyone who took part in the tasting was impressed by the simple but ingenious concept, which results in the full flavour of apple juice without added water, but with a refreshing addition of carbonation. Yum!
Duo Hermanchito provided very high quality music that set the mood for the garden market.
An exhibition of Pirkko Askola’s extensive nature research was opened on Blossom Day, and can be visited in the Carriage Museum throughout the summer. Ms Askola’s children Kerttu “Kepa” Tromp and Seppo Aakkula attended the opening and were delighted to showcase their mother’s life’s work.
Chainsaw artist Toni Laaksonen impressed with his beautiful works. During the recognition competition he created an owl in 12 minutes! The first person to correctly guess what the work represented got to take the owl home to their own garden.
The team at restaurant Amos Krog, led by Janne Juvonen, offered delicacies of all kinds. Here, the terrace grill spreading tantalising aromas.
The yacht Eugenia was joined at the jetty by many visiting boats that headed out into the beautiful weather.
Visitors to the museum enjoyed the work Värmekällan, a collaboration between floral artists Pia Holm and Petra Barre-Cygnel and glass artist Jarl Hohenthal. The 2024 exhibition at the museum presents sculptures by Emma Helle.
The replica of Amos Anderson’s colonnade provided a beautiful setting for a concert by Kake & Co.
The Blossom Adventure with over 10 activity points for both young and old was appreciated and well attended. Between the activities, it was nice to cool your feet on the beach.
The lush and beautiful park attracted many to just wander around and sit down and admire all the beauty. The day was characterised by a pleasant and warm atmosphere.
The Blossom Day is organised every year on the last Saturday of May, and in 2024 the timing was almost perfect!

See you next year again in flowering season!
